Waypoint Planning in action -

David Luke has been hosting a pilot project for the Waypoint workforce planning application, to showcase the functionality in a live environment for the first time. The warehouse operating model has been re-created as an activity-based model in Waypoint. We are using an excel spreadsheet to convert unit volumes into the correct volume drivers and to generate .csv files that are uploaded into Waypoint to be used in the workload calculations for each department.

This provides the warehouse management team with planning data at the start of every shift. The employee attendance list is then used to assign resources. Taking a closer look at the tasks and processes across the warehouse functions has highlighted some process improvement opportunities and is enabling the management team to focus and prioritise those areas that represent key pinch points in the flow of goods.

As the business moves into its peak period over the spring and summer it is hoped that Waypoint will help to reduce the overall costs of temporary labour.
